The Gathering Drum is a new project that serves people of all abilities, ages and backgrounds through the medium of African hand drums and percussion.

Thre will be a taster workshop in Groundwork on 23 October 200, with time to discuss how you could bring this medium into your own work situations, with people you are working with.

It's also a great opportunity for the members of the site to network.

Drumming and rhythm circles are a completely interactive experience...there are no spectators, and no wrong notes to play! They have many benefits to groups and users including:

• Helping break the ice with newly formed groups.
• Encouraging and developing a sense of team and community among groups.
• Raising confidence and esteem for individuals.
• Helping young people communicate in an alternative way.
• Encourage people to explore themes of diversity and difference
• Releasing stress, agression and anger.
• Letting people express themselves and get creative, while having a huge amount of fun.

The workshop is completely free, with refreshments thrown in for good measure!
We strongly believe that this is a fantastic and beneficial activity for groups of all varieties to use.
