The M.Phil. in Reconciliation Studies is an innovative cross-border programme. It takes an inter-disciplinary approach to the challenges of social reconciliation in the aftermath of armed conflict.

Particular attention is given to ethnic conflicts and the role of religion in such conflicts. Courses allow specialisation in the fields of politics, social research, theology and religions.

  • Dynamics of Reconciliation
  • Theology of Reconciliation
  • Conflict and Reconciliation
  • Resources for Reconciliation in World Religions
  • When the fighting stops: Transitional Justice and Truth Commissions
  • Conflict and Collective Identity: Ethnicity, Nationalism and Religion
  • Social Research Methods.

Where is the course based?

A service-learning component is available to students who wish to deepen the experiential concerns of this programme. All courses are taught in Belfast apart from a one week Spring School in Dublin

How long is the course?

Study full-time for 12 months or part-time for 24 months. One term sabbatics are also available.
