For the second year Ballynafeigh Community Development association are celebrating the cultural diversity of the Ormeau Road with their Shared Neighbourhood Week bringin together seven days of fun events for all the family at every age.

Dedicated community workers and local residents are set to be a glowing example of active reconciliation during a weeklong summer festival celebrating cultural diversity and communal shared spaces in South Belfast.
Following the outstanding community participation and public support shown to Ballynafeigh Community Development Association’s first Shared Neighbourhood Week in 2007, the team are back stronger than before working hard to bring together the all the different cultural and identity groups living on the Ormeau Road.
Event co-ordinator Anne McKay said,
“I am really excited about this year’s programme, last year was a bit of an experiment but we were really encouraged by the community support and felt it was time to pull out all the stops to create a fun context for new conversations about shared spaces.
“On the official side of things we will be launching our new website during Shared Neighbourhood Week and, as well as hosting a neighbourhood debate with key public figures, business owners and property developers we hope to host a high-profile policy conference to highlight the benefits of shared living.
“But much more fun for all the young people will be the street theatre and the magical mystery tour and of course for the young at heart the senior citizens tea dance is always well attended.”
Shared Neighbourhood Week Runs fro Saturday 30th August – Friday 5th August inclusively.
