The Divert Project Provides alcohol and drug education, prevention and early intervention services within the Foyle Trust Area. The services fall into three main categories.
Parents & Carers 6-Week Programme (CHATS)
Voices with Choices
Parent/Carer’s Mentoring Programme
Health Promoting Activities
Emerging Issues Programme
One-One Support.
PATHS Vulnerable Young Person's Project . Information & Education Programme
This programme encourages young people to indentify the relationship between their current situation and the use of substances.
Lifestyles programme
This programme assists young people to identify how they can affect positive change regarding their substance using situation within the context of their own lives.
Life Changers Programme
This promotes the process of identifying life changers that will offer young people a different view of the world. The young people will use these life changers events/goals as a means of moving beyond their current substance using situation.
Children of Drug & Alcohol Using Parents Project
This project aims to provide respite and time out for children/young people aged 4-17 who are suffering as a result of parents or family members alcohol or drug use.Creative Play
A programme to give children the opportunity to express their feelings, emotions and experiences in a fun and safe way. Activities include; arts and crafts; drama; dance; music; story telling etc.
Norm Programme
A programme designed to provide children with normal day to day activities. Activities include; cinema trips; football match trips; bowling alley trip etc. Health Promoting Programme
An 8 week programme made up of 8 outdoor activities to promote fun and health in children.
Hidden Harm Training for Professionals
A 2 hr awareness session designed to provide increase the awareness of teachers, community/youth workers etc. around the concept of Hidden Harm.Life Skills Programme
A programme designed for children who are taking on an adult role at home, to equip them with skills to make their day to day lives easier. Activities include; basic cooking; hygiene; staying safe etc…
Personal & Social Development
A programme designed to provide awareness to children / young people on issues such as sexual health; drug and alcohol awareness; self esteem etc.
One to one support is provided with all aspects of the Divert Programmes.Supporting all of the outlined projects is a full programme of outdoor activities.
Canoeing
Kayaking
Rock Climbing
Bouldering
Survival Training
Gorge walks
Football
Health Promoting Activities
Orienteering etc…
