Northern Ireland's private rented sector is a keystone in the housing market. It has grown hugely in the last 10 years and has a positive role to play in meeting housing need, easing pressure on social housing waiting lists;providing temporary accommodation for homeless people and housing those who can't afford to buy.

As government is pledging to improve the situation for landlords and tenants and undertake a review of the private rented sector this conference will inform that review and help shape government's thinking on a new strategic framework for the sector.

The event will: examine the current state of the local private rented sector, review recent recommendations from the Law Commission in England, hear the experiences of landlords and tenants in Scotland and the Republic of Ireland and explore ways to improve property and tenancy management standards through workshops.

The key note address will be given by Professor Martin Partington CBE, QC. Other confirmed speakers include:Brian Doherty-DSD, Joe Frey-NIHE, Claire O'Neill-BCC, Cian O'Lionain-Dept of Environment, Heritage and Local Government Dublin.
