Keynote speakers
Keynote speakers from the National Consultative Committe on Racism and Interculturalism (NCCRI), Northern Ireland Council for Ethnic Minorities (NICEM) and the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) will address the challenges ahead as immigration continues to rise to meet labour demand.
Who will benefit?
Educationalists, employers, trade unions and community activists will explore barriers to educational opportunities for migrant workers during afternoon workshops. This will also provide participants with the opportunity to share good practice and to discuss how we work in partnership to provide opportunities and support to migrant workers.
Project
The Cross Border Openings project was established to bring new learning opportunities to new audiences that are underrepresented in further and higher education and European funding has made this possible. However, the development of successful learning partnerships is a necessity if projects like this are to survive in the long term.
Conference Organisers
The Conference has been organised by the Open University in Ireland, the Irish Congress of Trade Unions and the Centre for Cross Border Studies as part of the "Cross Border Openings" project wich is funded by the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation.
