adviceNI is running an e-consultation: 'Have your say on bank charges in Northern Ireland'.
The Competition Commission is investigating the personal current account market in Northern Ireland. This is the result of a super-complaint submitted by Which? and the Consumer Council to the Office of Fair Trading on charges levied on personal current accounts by the Big Four banks in Northern Ireland - Bank of Ireland, First Trust, Northern and Ulster Banks.
The Competition Commission has commenced the initial stage of its inquiry which will take place up to the end of June 2005. In particular the Competition Commission is seeking any views and evidence on the personal current account market in Northern Ireland. This is a unique opportunity to have your voice heard in this unprecedented competition inquiry into the operation of this £1.9bn market.
adviceNI is supporting the General Consumer Council to respond to this investigation by gathering people's experiences of personal current accounts in Northern Ireland via this e-consultation. The Consumer Council will then submit this information to the inquiry at a meeting with the Competition Commission's investigation team later this month.

The e-consultation will run from Monday 13th June to Friday 24th June.
