Event
This event officially launches the partnership between Chinese Welfare Association (CWA) and the International Organization of Migration (IOM) as the first Associate Scheme operating in Northern Ireland.
IOM advice is available for all non-EU nationals who wish to return home voluntarily at Chinese Welfare Association for a variety of reasons e.g. asylum seekers, refugee status, repatriation, family reunification etc. A recent development in the work of IOM at CWA is that of Unaccompanied Minors and we are working with PSNI, Immigration and Social Services at an Inter-agency approach to support minors. The IOM Associate Scheme is vital to the work of Chinese Welfare Association in ensuring people's welfare in Northern Ireland and in returning to their countries of origin.
The event will also give non-EU nationals and those working in the voluntary and community, statutory, private and government sectors an opportunity to attend workshops in areas of migration interests: Employers’ and employees’ rights and responsibilities; Work permits and the points-based system and voluntary returns, documentation requirements to travel etc. The event will also be supported by Home Office Border and Immigration Agency, PSNI, Irish Congress of Trade Unions in ensuring the rights and welfare of people.
