The course will provide an overview of evaluation concepts and issues. Participants explore the various reasons why external evaluation might be carried out, who should be involved and how, when should it be initiated, how long does it take, what budget might be required.
With an emphasis on practical issues participants are taken through various stages of commissioning external evaluation including: developing Terms of Reference, producing a commissioning document, recruiting a suitable Evaluator, drawing up a contract and managing the external evaluation, and utilising the report findings in the future development of your project.
The course is particularly suited to managers and staff from community and voluntary organisations who are involved or responsible for external evaluation.
