Training

A one day training course in Belfast will guide fundraisers in how to build lucrative relationships with local businesses and generate increased donations from local employees through Payroll Giving.

Making Local Business Your Business is a one day course that covers everything charities need to know in order to generate increased donations from local employees and employers through payroll giving.

The course also gives practical guidance about implementing a payroll giving scheme.

Venue: Wellington Park Hotel, Belfast
Date: 13 September, 10 am - 4.30 pm
Cost: £40, or £30 for members of the Institute of Fundraising (refreshments and lunch are provided).

The course is part of the UK wide payroll giving grants programme, which rewards any employer (businesses or charity) with fewer than 500 staff for setting up a payroll giving scheme with a cash incentive of up to £500.

Tina Steele, project manager for payroll giving at the Institute, says,

Payroll Giving Grants can be a real springboard for initiating lucrative relationships with local employers and the workshops provide a focus for charities looking to gain access to and build relationships with businesses across Northern Ireland.

Payroll giving is a simple way for employees to give to charity from their gross salary with immediate tax relief on the donation.

Incentives

As an additional incentive, the new grants programme will match the first £10 donated by each employee, every month, for a period of six months.

The programme aims to provide sustainable income sources for UK charities by increasing the number of employers and employees engaged in payroll giving.

The training workshop is one of a series of professional development and networking initiatives for fundraisers available in the region, coordinated by the Institute of Fundraising, a professional membership organisation.
