Revised for 2007/08, the course has been designed to enable participants to develop an understanding of evaluation and the skills and knowledge needed to carry out evaluation. The course sets out a four-part framework for undertaking evaluation and includes practical tasks and opportunities for discussion.

The course topics covered include:

  • What is evaluation?
  • Why is evaluation important?
  • Using an evaluation framework
  • Types of information needed to get your evaluation started
  • Identifying key lines of enquiry and measuring impact
  • An overview of research methods useful for evaluation
  • Writing and disseminating the results of an evaluation
