The Eastern Health and Social Services Board and Belfast Healthy Cities are launching their respective strategies for older people on Thursday 25 May 2006 in the Civic Centre at Lagan Valley Island in Lisburn. The launch will culminate in a tea dance and older people are particularly welcome to attend.
EHSSB is launching the 'Older People’s Health and Wellbeing Strategy' which outlines Board area strategy for commissioning health and social care services for older people until 2015.
Linking to this strategy, Belfast Healthy Cities has developed the 'Healthy Ageing: InterAction Plan, EHSSB area 2006-2009', which outlines action by a range of organisations aimed at improving services for older people and improving co-ordination of existing services. Belfast Healthy Cities is also launching 'Older People: Health, Social and Living Conditions Reports' for the EHSSB area and a separate report focusing on older people in Belfast. The reports collate statistical as well as qualitative information on older people, and also make recommendations for how information collection could be improved.
