Every five minutes, someone’s number comes up.

Are you aware that stroke is the biggest single cause of disability in Northern Ireland? As part of Stroke Awareness Week, Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke is hosting ‘Journey Through Stroke’, a conference to raise awareness about the devastating effects of stroke on Friday 22nd September 2006 in the Tullyglass Hotel, Ballymena.

This conference is aimed at employers and employees of any organisation, voluntary or commercial, who may have contact with a person who has suffered a stroke. This could include

• taxi and bus drivers who have to transport people with stroke;
• leisure centre workers who have contact with facility users who have had a stroke;
• organisations who employ a person who is recovering from a stroke;
• solicitors who may be in contact with clients who have had a stroke;
• policy makers who need to have a better understanding of how stroke affects whole families and communities, not just individuals.

Stroke does not discriminate. Anyone could have a stroke. Please accept our invitation to learn more about stroke, from people who really understand its effects.

For further information about the conference, please contact Irene Haire, PA to Health Directorate Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke
