Conference

A three day international conference organised by Community Arts Forum in conjunction with Belfast Festival at Queen's, NICVA, and Rural Community Network.

Includes: Keynote address, international speakers, panel discussion, seminars, workshops and arts performances.

Conference events: the Belfast Festival opening parade and concert, film and discussion at QFT on the Berliner Philharmoniker, circus arts and workshop, river boat tour and The Humour of the Troubles According to Martin Lynch.

Themes

1. Transforming communities through the arts: access, participation, authorship and ownership.
2. Arts in the context of conflict: what are we learning?
3. Transforming the arts through communities: sustainability, connections, interdependence.

Speakers

Keynote: Bill Strickland, Manchester Craftsmen's Guild, Pittsburgh USA.
Through his work in an inner-city Pittsburgh neighbourhood, Bill Strickland is changing the way people see themselves and transforming the concept of community arts in the US.
