Local Government employers have announced a pay freeze.
Local Government employers have announced that an annual pay rise could not be awarded in respect of NJC Pay for 2010/11 due falling revenues and rising demand. They informed staff a pay increase would lead to cuts in services that would adversely affect local people and would put council jobs in jeopardy.
There has been outrage from the NJC unions who claimed there had been no negotiations on the 2010/11 pay claim tabled in December, in which they asked for a rise of 2.5% or £500 whichever was greater.
