The Older People's Policy Forum was formed in May 2005 and is chaired by Elaine Campbell from Age Concern and Amy Veale from Help the Aged.
The Forum meets on average four times a year and its aim is 'To enhance the capacity of organisations within and beyond the older people's sector to make policy responses, coordinate policy information, participate in policy development, and influence decision making.'
Membership of the Forum is drawn from across the voluntary and community sector and is open to any organisation with an interest in older people's policy issues. The Forum has actively discussed a wide range of issues, and made responses to some key consultations (see right hand side column).
Recently they took part in a focus group session with the Equality Commission, looking at the guidance being developed for the new Age Regulations. Over the coming months they hope to look more closely at issues including community safety and the concessionary fares scheme.
