The
Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF) is holding a Think Pink! sponsored walk through
the tree lined avenue and woodland at Castle Coole, Enniskillen.  The walk will start at 3pm, leaving from the
car park at Castle Coole, on Saturday 24th October 2009, to raise
funds to help support local women with breast cancer. 

Sylvia Lucy from UCF said, "UCF is encouraging people to Think
Pink! during October, breast cancer awareness month and we hope that lots of
people will take part in the sponsored walk.  All funds raised from the event will help
support local women with breast cancer in the Fermanagh area.

"Breast
cancer is now the most common form of cancer in local women.  Over 1,000 women are diagnosed with breast
cancer each year and annually around 300 die because of the disease. Breast
cancer has a phenomenal and often life-altering impact on the patient, as well
as their family and friends.  UCF
provides a range of services, free of charge, which can make this time of
extreme stress a little more bearable and help to improve quality of life.

Hughes, MBE who helps facilitate UCF's Enniskillen Cancer Support Group added,
"Fundraising events like the Think Pink! sponsored walk are very important in
helping to raise funds to support local women in Fermanagh and the surrounding
area.  UCF offers a wide variety of information
and support to women who have been affected by the disease as well as their
family and friends, such as our local support group and counselling service as
well as a freephone information and support helpline - 0800 783 3339 and lots
more."

day for an entry fee of £10.  Free Think Pink! UCF branded
t-shirts will be
awarded to those who raise over £50 for the charity.
