Tackling Hate Crime - One Day Workshop

Chartered Institute of Housing

Chartered Institute of Housing

Cost: Member rate: £90 +VAT Non Member rate: £100

Hate crime is very different to general anti-social behaviour. It is targeted and therefore often repeated and can have a profound effect on the victim. This one-day workshop will enable you to identify and take a proactive approach to hate incidents.

Recent published cases of hate crime in Northern Ireland have proven to be very negative from a national and international perspective.  Your organisation can play a major role in working to reduce hate related incidents.  This workshop focuses on a nationally proven victim centred approach and provides participants with a draft hate crime policy and risk assessment matrix which you can adapt to your own organisation's needs.

The five main victim groups which will feature in the workshop are: race, religion, disability, sexual orientation and gender reassignment.  Short video clips will provide a taste of how the media percieves the actions ( or lack of action ) by the authorities in Northern Ireland in relation to hate crime.

The workshop will equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to return to your organisations and make a real difference for some of your most vulnerable customers.

Delivered in partnership by the Chartered Institute of Housing and Moore Training Solutions, this training has previously been delivered for groups across the UK and has been revised to reflect the specific dynamics of the Northern Ireland legal and social context.
