Shack Attack at Sunflowerfest, Hillsborough

Habitat for Humanity Ireland

Habitat for Humanity Ireland

Cost: £60 per person (Team of 4-6 people)

Taking central stage at one of Northern Ireland’s most loved outdoor family festivals; Sunflowerfest, Shack Attack is a fun and rewarding event which challenges teams to build their own shelter from scrap materials then sleep out in it for one night.

An exciting, unique outdoor  challenge event which will bring together teams of 4-6 people to create a ‘shanty town’ as part of SunflowerFest, Hillsborough on 1-2 August 2015.  Each team needs to gather scrap; used or donated materials prior to the event and then design and construct their own make-shift shelter on the afternoon of Saturday 1st August.  The challenge is then for each team to camp out overnight in the shelter they have built to experience a little of the hardship faced by millions of people worldwide every day.

Each team is also challenged to raise a minimum of £1,235, which is the average cost of a Habitat home in the developing world.  Funds raised will be used to support Habitat programmes locally and in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities. Shack Attack also has a competitive edge as teams will be judged and prizes awarded for fundraising, shelter design & build and overall Shack Attack champions. All Shack Attack participants will have entry into the festival for the whole weekend (Fri-Mon) should they wish – ticket price is included in the non-refundable deposit of £60 per person.
