Resilience - Film about Adverse Childhood Experiences and Building Resilience
Connected for Life
This award winning documentary helps us understand the far reaching impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences. It will interest those working with children/adults impacted by childhood adversity, parents & individuals, community groups and representatives.
The NI tour of the award winning documentary Resilience begins in Belfast in June and continues in other areas of NI throughout Sept.
This film is helping the world understand the far reaching impact of childhood trauma on individuals, communities and society. It shares the findings of the Adverse Childhood (ACE) experience study, published in 1998, which revealed the most important public findings of a generation. Scientists now realise that childhood trauma is one of the leading cause of everything from heart disease and cancer, to substance misuse, depression and violence.
This film not only highlights how our long term physical and emotional health can be affected by these adverse childhood experiences, but it also introduces new ways to intervene in order to protect children from the toxic impact of childhood adversity and to build resilience.
Events will allow the audience not only the opportunity to see this very powerful film, but they will also have the opportunity to engage in a Q &A with others in the audience as well as a Panel of individuals who have some expertise in this area, regarding issues raised in the documentary.
