Protecting Children and Young People from Discrimination

This training will provide an overview of the main legal provisions for protecting children and young people from discrimination and key implications for working with all young people , but in particular for supporting youth led campaign work.

This half day training workshop (9.30am - 12.30pm) will provide an opportunity to explore the implications of equality law for your practice in working with children and young people and advising them on their rights.  Discussion will focus mainly on:

  • age, race and disability discrimination,
  • the role of Section 75 of the NI Act 1998 in protecting the equality rights of all children and young people,

and

  • raising awareness of the role of the Equality Commission in protecting children and young people from discrimination and what can be learned from relevant case law.
