Pamela Bell from Pain Alliance NI will give a short presentation.
The Pain Alliance Northern Ireland is active in lobbying the Department of Health, social services and Health Committee of Northern Ireland to improve services for people suffering from pain. This year, the alliance organised the Northern Ireland Pain Summit which brought together patients, carers, employers, clinicians and healthcare decision makers. The summit was aimed at:
- Raising awareness of the extent of the problem of people living with chronic pain
- Raising awareness of the cost of chronic pain to the Northern Ireland economy
- Highlighting to decision makers opportunities to develop prevention strategies and services for people with chronic pain
- Establishing agreement on the best strategies for helping people with chronic pain
- Engaging local organisations and health providers in these actions.
