May CineSeekers Film Club screening:

Latvian Folk-Tale inspired animation ‘The Golden Horse’

The May CineSeekers Film Club movie is the Northern Ireland preview of the Latvian folk-tale inspired animation ‘The Golden Horse’ (8+), taking place on Saturday 30th May at Queen’s Film Theatre, Belfast.

An ancient Latvian folk tale is the basis for this colourful animated feature in the tradition of Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. The fairy-tale story follows the eternal fight between good and evil where the good conquers evil by persistency, purposefulness and honesty. A vengeful sorceress casts a kingdom's princess into a deep sleep at the top of an icy mountain, where she awaits release from the spell that will destroy the land. Of all the men vying for the honour, the shy outcast son of a family of thugs is the most unlikely.

The CineSeekers Film Club is a monthly Cinemagic film event for young people. Based in QFT, the club's ethos is to promote and celebrate a diverse and varied range of international children's films.

By providing the young audience with a regular outlet for world cinema, the aim is to develop and nurture a broader appreciation, understanding and love of film; as well as celebrating the stories, peoples and cultures from around the globe.

The film screens from 4.00pm-5.15pm in Queen's Film Theatre Belfast on Saturday 30th May. To purchase tickets priced at £4.00 visit www.queensfilmtheatre.com
