Making Space 2010: annual professional forum for youth arts

Booking is now open for Making Space 2010, part of the Belfast Children's Festival. The five-day forum will cover a wide range of topics, from playgrounds to drama in schools, with options to suit both individuals and organisations, including FREE events.

Making Space 2010

Curated and co-ordinated by Young at Art in partnership with the University of Ulster, Making Space 2010 aims to increase the opportunities for creative exchange in the field of youth arts, to develop the professional discourse about youth arts within arts, community and education sectors, and to promote and develop indigenous artists.

For more information, including a full programme and how to book your place, please see the attached document. This is also available from the "Downloads" section at the bottom of our Getting Involved webpage.

A first this year is inclusion of presentations and academic papers in a two-day Symposium on children's theatre. Other events over the five-day forum are seminars on children and the visual arts, how young people are considered in our built environment and how language forms part of the school experience for children and can be used to support language development. These events are enhanced by the opportunity to view various works which are part of the Belfast Children's Festival. Making Space 2010 will also feature meetings of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Theatre for Young Audiences Nothern Ireland.

The sign-up deadline is 7th May, although places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment. If you have already consulted the programme and would like to book your place, go to our Online Booking Form.

If you have any queries, please contact Anna McCrum on makingspace@youngatart.co.uk or 028 9023 0660.
