This one-day training course provides a practical introduction for staff who need to use Makaton in everyday settings.
This one-day training course provides a practical introduction for staff who need to use Makaton in everyday settings. Makaton is a complete language development prograamme used particularly for those with communication difficulties.
Learning Outcomes
- have practised signing of Stages 1 and 2 in core and additional vocabulary
- be able to use Makaton in everyday settings and set targets for individuals
- gain confidence in using Makaton
- understand how the user of Makaton benefits from its use
- understand the link between sign, symbols and speech
- understand that Makaton is a multimodel approach to communicate
