Lobbying, Campaigning & Influencing in the new Opposition era
NICVA
With the UUP and SDLP not taking their seats in favour of becoming an opposition we are now faced with a very different political landscape to what we had before the election, or indeed at any time since devolution in 1998.
This new dynamic raises both opportunities and challenges for voluntary and community organisations who are interested in lobbying, campaigning and influencing government.
It also raises a number of questions:
- What does having an Opposition look like?
- What does an Opposition do?
- How can we best engage with an Opposition?
At this event NICVA Members will hear from the NI Assembly Business Office on the logistics and rights of an Opposition.
Members will also hear from our sister organisation SCVO who will share their experience of working with an Opposition within the devolved institutions in Scotland.
The event takes place on Wednesday, 29 June from 2pm to 4pm in NICVA and is free to NICVA members. Not a member? Join today!
