The Certificate in Independent Advocacy allows Independent Advocates to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment in their Independent Advocacy role. The course includes knowledge and skills based assessments and involves learners demonstrating competency in work related tasks. Assessment is through a portfolio of evidence which includes assignments, work products and observations. This qualification requires learners to complete 5 units listed below, as well as Induction and distance learning. Face to face days will be taught on the following dates; Induction Day: Induction to Qualification - 29th of September 2016 Unit 301: Purpose and Principles of Independent Advocacy - 6th October 2016 Unit 302: Providing Independent Advocacy Support - 3rd November 2016 Unit 303: Maintaining the Independent Advocacy Relationship - 1st December 2016 Unit 304: Understand the Social Context of Independent Advocacy - 19th January 2017 Unit 309: Providing Independent Advocacy to Children and Young People - 3rd & 6th April 2017 Advice NI was funded by DHSSPS to develop this course which was shortlisted for an AONTAS Star Award in 2014.
