Open Meeting

Comber is hosting an Open Meeting as part of a new initiative aiming to strengthen the voice of Irish NGOs and organisations working in Central and Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union (CEE/FSU). All organisations working in the region are invited to attend, with the view to bringing groups together to establish a Network. 

It is now twenty years since the 'opening' of Romania's orphanages, providing a good opportunity to reflect on the achievements and learning of Irish organisations, many of which were set up to help children and adults in institutions in Romania, Belarus and other countries in the region.

Comber is one such organisation, set up in 1991 to work with children and adults with disabilities in Romania. Given the current economic climate, it seems a good time to meet and share ideas about the future and how we can work together to achieve common goals, whilst strengthening Ireland's role in development work in the region.

To facilitate the establishment of a Network, Comber is hosting an Open Meeting on Thursday 17th September at the Carmichael Centre in Dublin 7 from 2-5pm. This meeting will give us an opportunity explore ideas and themes in an informal setting and will have an external facilitator to support the process.  We hope you can attend and welcome ideas and input.
