2. Introduction To Reminiscence Work with Individuals and Small Groups – 2-day course

This course aims to give participants the knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver purposeful reminiscence work with individuals, couples and small groups.

The course involves attendance at 2 full-day training sessions. The first day of training provides an overview of reminiscence work and introduces the basics in relation to planning and structuring reminiscence activity, the use of multi-sensory triggers and producing practice plans.

 Between the first and second days training, participants are tasked with planning and delivering a small piece of reminiscence work with either an individual, couple or small group. During the second day, participants explore common problems, issues, solutions and learning processes. Guidance will also be given on working with specific client groups, such as people with dementia, intergenerational projects etc. depending on identified interests.

DATE: 10th September & 22nd October 2010    LOCATION: Clinton Centre, Enniskillen

DATE:  8th October & 12th November 2010      LOCATION: Belfast

TIME: 9.30am – 4.30pm on both days

COST: £90 for RNNI Members    £125 for Non-members    Cost includes lunch on both days, handbook and attendance certificate.  Membership costs from £15 - ask for details.

Reminiscence Training

Reminiscence training makes it possible for people to acquire the skills to begin or improve reminiscence work with individuals or groups. It also provides participants with the opportunity to meet with others doing similar work which spurs their creativity through the exchange of ideas.

Training is designed for those working in day centres, residential units, nursing homes, museums, hospitals, schools. 

Training is of benefit to those working in a paid or voluntary capacity with older people, young and older people involved in inter-generational projects, people with dementia, people with learning difficulties.
