The Gospel According to Blindboy - A Belfast Book Festival Fringe Event

Belfast Book Festival Fringe is pleased to present Blindboy Boatclub, Ireland’s foremost satirist and most original comedic voice and his debut book, The Gospel Accoding to Blindboy.

One half of the Rubberbandits, he has released a number of hit singles, including the iconic ‘Horse Outside’ and ‘Dad’s Best Friend’ and has campaigned in support of numerous social issues, including male mental health.

"The Gospel According to Blindboy" is his surreal and genre- defying debut collection of short stories and visual art exploring the myths, complacencies and contradictions at the heart of modern Ireland.

Due for release in October 2017, the book covers everything from love and death to sex and politics, it’s pitched halfway between the Angelus and Oculus Rift, globalisation and gombeenism.

Whip-smart and provocative, and animated by the author’s unmistakably dark wit, it recalls some of the nation’s most acclaimed literary voices – such as Flann O’Brien and Kevin Barry – while simultaneously breaking new and exciting ground.  This book is unlike anything else you’re going to read this year.

So join us at The Crescent as the funny man with the plastic bag on his head reveals an astounding literary talent as he reads from his new book!
