Glenariff Forest Autumnal Sponsored Walk

Sunday 16th October 2016

Join Meningitis Research Foundation for a stunning 4 mile or 6 mile autumnal sponsored walk around the ancient forest of Glenariff.  Enjoy a leisurely walk that takes in the waterfalls, river ways and pathways of the forest during this visually stunning season.

Known as the ‘Queen of the Glens’, the forest of Glenariff is a favourite amongst fair weather walkers, serious strollers, families and the intrigued! An iconic trek in its own right, the rich colours of the forest season will make this the crowning glory of our walking events!

The walk will commence at 11am moving along the Glenariff River, passing by the Ess-na-Larach and Ess-na-Crub waterfalls. Changing direction the route will briefly follow the Inver River before leading into deeper forest with its hidden gullies and streams. The route will continue throughout the forest grounds.

Towards the end of the 4 mile walk the group have an option of splitting into two and choosing to continue the 4 miles or chose the route extended by an addition 2 miles (6 mile option).  The 4 mile walk will end by passing through the gardens returning to the start.  The 6 mile option will continue through the forest path towards the exit and turn back towards the caravan park and finish at the gardens.

There are also many rest areas along the way to accommodate a picnic, a river paddle and the odd photo shoot!

Registration fees are £15 per adult, £5 for Senior Citizens, £5 per child and £35 per family (2 adults and 2 children). Registration fees includes car park entrance fees and service of a guide.  Please note children under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult.

We ask participants to aim to raise a minimum of £45 sponsorship in support of our vital work.
