An overview of the main changes to social security entitlements that would come into effect under the Welfare Reform Act, and an introduction to Universal Credit.

The Welfare Reform Act was passed in England and Wales in March 2012. While it has not yet become law in Northern Ireland, when it does it will introduce significant reforms to the Social Security Benefit System.

This one day course is suitable for those with a basic knowledge of the current benefits system who require a general overview of what the changes are and how benefit claimants will be affected.

Learners will understand basic entitlement and potential changes to:

  • Carer’s Allowance
  • Income Support/IB JSA
  • Pension Credit
  • Community Care Grants
  • Employment Support Allowance
  • Housing Benefit
  • Tax Credits
  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Attendance Allowance

and an introduction to Universal Credit.
