Fresh after the success of The Chess Piece performances in The Guildhall, Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company has announced its July summer scheme for five year olds and over.

Starting on Monday 26thJuly, the local dance company will be offering one week of dance and movement classes for three different age groups- 5 to 7 year olds, 8 to 12 year olds and teenagers.

Professional dancers from Echo Echo will teach the classes in the company's dance studio in the Waterside Theatre, which has accessible and free on-site parking.

The summer schemes are open to boys and girls of all abilities and there is no need for any previous dance experience. The creative classes are all about learning to move and making new friends.

A parent from last year's scheme said: "The children enjoyed the creativity and movement in a non-threatening, encouraging environment. Such an enjoyable week."

The Echo Echo tutors aim to ensure the classes are fun and vibrant, and will teach the kids choreography as well as encourage their imaginations to improvise and create their own sequences. The children can show off what they learned in a short performance on the last day for family and friends.

The 5-7 year group is from 10am to11am each morning and costs £15 for the full week. This group will focus on movement games and using imagination to create their own dances.

The 8-12 year group starts at 11.30am and runs until 1pm costing £20. This slightly longer class for older primary ages is an exciting opportunity to learn some choreography, technique and also play movement games.

Finally, the 12 years and over group begins at 2pm and is three hours long. This session is for teenagers interested in dance and performance. They will work on choreography, improvisation and technique as well as performance skills. This course costs £30.

If any teenagers are thinking of joining Echo Echo's Daring Feet Youth Dance weekly classes in September, this is the perfect opportunity to come along, meet the tutors and other members and get a feel for the work that Daring Feet does.
