The Government wants public services that are efficient, effective, excellent and empowering, with the citizen at the heart of service provision. With this in mind Customer Service Excellence was developed to offer public services a practical tool for driving customer-focused change within their organisation.

The Reform Delivery Unit, in the Department of Finance and Personnel, is holding a seminar which is targeted at staff from current and previous Charter Mark holders who are interested in working towards CSE.

The key speakers are: Leon Winston and Joan Hynes.

Leon is an experienced Charter Mark and CSE assessor, who over a thirteen year period, has assessed a wide range of services throughout the public sector. Leon was part of the pilot scheme for Customer Service Excellence and has hosted and spoken at a number of conferences in relation to Charter Mark/CSE.

Joan has been involved in the area of customer service, in the Northern Ireland Court Service, since 2000. In 2002 she led Laganside Courts to successfully achieve Charter Mark status and in 2005 was responsible
for the corporate application which was used to support local court offices in achieving Charter Mark.
As project manager, she was also actively involved in NICtS achieving CSE for its 21 Courts.

The seminar will take place on 10 December 2009, at the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute Headquarters, Newforge Lane, Belfast.
