This course will give you the knowledge, skills, and confidence you need to demonstrate good standards of practice, and ensure compliance with the many legal obligations relating to private tenancies.
About Learning 2 Let
Originally developed by the Chartered Institute of Housing (NI) and Smartmove, this course has been significantly updated to meet the needs of private landlords and letting agents, and it will ensure that you have the skills and knowledge you need to be effective in your role. The course is available as taught modules and online through the CIHNI elearn site.
The course consists of three units outlined below:
Units covered
Tenancies and the Law
Explore the different types of tenancies and the law which governs them including houses in multiple occupation. Understand the additional legal requirements you must adhere to including health and safety, consumer rights and having your property properly insured.
Property & tenancy management
Learn to understand your legal responsibilities of managing a tenancy from commencement through to when a tenancy is brought to an end. This unit will also highlight the practical issues that impact on managing a property including maintenance and inspection.
Customer care
Learn all about how to best deal with customers / tenants, and gain a much greater awareness of the private rented sector’s role and contribution in providing accommodation in Northern Ireland; understand the legislation on equality and diversity and how it impacts on you as a service provider; manage information and tenant confidentiality and support you in dealing with complaints and disputes.
The course is available as both taught and online. The taught course requires attendance at three training days over an eight week period and the online version runs over a 12-week cycle.
