Are you a carer of someone with a serious mental illness? CAUSE are organising six lively two hour evening workshops with interactive discussion and information on the fundamentals you need as a carer. Starting Tuesday 13 October for six weeks in Belfast
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the training participants will be able to:
- Improve the quality of their life as a carer and increase self- confidence and resilience
- Develop their understanding of serious mental illness and services
- Plan for an emergency, navigate services and work effectively with mental health and social care professionals.
- Manage a crisis more effectively
- Develop strategies to look after yourself by developing a self-care plan
- Discuss the impact of the illness on friends and family

Volunteer NowTraining/AdviceThis course is aimed at individuals who recruit, manage or supervise staff and volunteers working with children and/or adults. It will examine the procedures that need to be put in place for effective recruitment and selection of staff and volunteers including requirements under the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (NI) Order, the current and former definitions of regulated activity and how to exercise careful judgement when assessing information on an Access NI Disclosure Certificate. It will also look at the procedures required for the effective management of staff and volunteers including induction and training, breach of code of behaviour and referral to the Disclosure and Barring Service.- - -
