Big Build 13

Habitat for Humanity Ireland

Habitat for Humanity Ireland

Cost: £1850 (inc £100 deposit)

Big Build brings together individuals and teams from across NI to build in partnership with communities in need for one big impact week. You will be part of something special as you work beside local people to help deliver homes, community and hope.

Work begins on World Habitat Day, Monday 7th October, a day designated by the UN to draw attention to the urgent need for shelter.

Over the week you can be part of something very special as we work beside local people in the Romanian town of Vizuresti to help refurbish the buildings at the heart of their community; a school, medical centre, kindergarten and community house.

Although only 35km from Bucharest the community is isolated, trapped in a cycle of poverty by a lack of education, health services, infrastructure and substandard housing.  Habitat will work in partnership with the local community action group to deliver water and sanitation facilities to the school and medical centre, refurbish the kindergarten and build a new community house which will be used for non-formal education for youth and adults.  Habitat will also provide technical support and assistance, providing transferable skills and building the capacity of the community to improve their homes.

With your support, we will provide much needed assistance and transferable skills to help the people of Vizuresti improve their community, homes and lives and deliver real impacts over the long–term.

To take part, you will need to raise £1850 per person (including £100 non-refundable deposit).  This covers travel, accomodation, food, transport and a donation to Habitat's work.  We will provide a fundraising pack and all the information and assistance you need to get your fundraising off to flying start!
