Stop Climate Chaos NI

Now is the time to make a breakthrough. After four years of campaigning for a Climate Change Act, strong and clear action is within our grasp.

The Minister for the Environment, Alex Attwood, has announced he will bring forward a Bill with challenging targets during this Assembly. But there are still decision–makers who see climate change as low priority or who favour modest, voluntary targets offering no guarantees of real cuts.

To make sure a strong Bill is drafted and then backed by the Executive and the Assembly, we need to show the strength of support for an Act.  We need to show that Northern Ireland is willing to play its part – as Scotland and Wales have done with ambitious targets and as Ireland is preparing to with new legislation announced in January.

We need to show we want Northern Ireland to be at the forefront of tackling this global challenge, not playing catch–up while other economies adapt to a cleaner, greener future.

Action on climate change has never been more urgent and now we have the opportunity to get in the game. Now is the time, and we need you to join us.
