Voluntary Arts Ireland
Every year in Northern Ireland 160,000 adults give freely of their time and talents to enable others to enjoy the benefits of exploring their own creativity.
These cultural volunteers bring learning, entertainment and social networking to the heart of their communities and are a vital component of the glue that holds these communities together.
Community Creators recognises the contribution of cultural volunteers to rural communities. Using the monthly themes adopted for the Year of the Volunteer in Northern Ireland, the publication presents nine case studies of arts groups where volunteers play a central role.
The publication was prepared on behalf of Voluntary Arts Ireland by Fiona Conroy as part of her MSc in Rural Development and Project Management.
