Following the decision by the Committee for the Office of First Minister and Deputy First Minister to hold an inquiry into child poverty in Northern Ireland, Save the Children is running a workshop to support groups to prepare submissions.
A number of groups working on child poverty have met twice to discuss how they can work together to ensure that child poverty is prioritised by the Northern Ireland Executive, and to develop a range of solutions to end child poverty in Northern Ireland. At the last meeting they decided to run a workshop to support groups to prepare submissions for the Child Poverty Inquiry.
This workshop will take place on:
The workshop will start with a plenary session in which we will discuss the Terms of Reference and how to produce a submission to an Inquiry. Then we will break off into five groups, each focussing on a specific area - for example education or health - where we will explore in more detail some policy calls we might want to include in our submissions.
A paper will be produced following this workshop, which will be circulated to all participants and may also be submitted to the Inquiry. We hope that it will be useful to groups preparing submissions.
If you or a colleague would like to attend this workshop, please RSVP to Catherine Moore at Save the Children, 15 Richmond Park, Belfast BT10 0HB. Tel: 028 90431123; Fax 028 90431314 or email c.moore@savethechildren.org.uk by Friday, 2nd November 2007.
