The Changing Ageing Partnership (CAP) has recently established three Age Equality Policy Fora in Belfast, Coleraine and Newry/Mourne. CAP are looking for older people to sit on these to discuss the progress public authorities are making towards meeting agreed age equality standards.

CAP LogoThe CAP vision is 'a strong informed voice capable of challenging and changing attitudes and approaches to ageing.'

The Changing Ageing Partnership (CAP) was established in December 2005 and brings together:

  • Age Concern Northern Ireland
  • Help the Aged in Northern Ireland
  • Workers' Educational Association, and
  • Queen's University Belfast.

The CAP vision is 'a strong informed voice capable of challenging and changing attitudes and approaches to ageing.'

Goal of the Changing Aging Partnership

The main goal is to empower older people to transform how they are viewed by sections within our society. To realise this, three Age Equality Policy Fora have been established which will be made up of representatives from various public authorities and older people.

Role of the fora

The fora will review the progress public authorities are making towards meeting agreed age equality standards and support them to move away from the largely passive approach to age equality which is currently the norm.
