NIFHA the umbrella organisation representing, supporting and promoting the activities of the 38 registered and 6 of the unregistered Housing Associations in Northern Ireland today welcomed the apppointment of Margaret Ritchie as new Social Development Minister.
The Federation will be seeking an early meeting with Ms Ritchie to discuss the issues facing the provision of affordable homes in NI today.
Commenting on Ms Ritchie’s appointment the Federation’s Chief Executive, Chris Williamson said:
“The Federation is delighted that all parties are actively preparing to take their places in government on 8 May 2007. The new Minister for Social Development will face big housing issues but Margaret Ritchie has a lot of experience in this field and our Federation looks forward to working with her to debate and implement sound housing policies.”
