BBC filming Community Transport for Lifeline airing Sunday 15 April
Rural Community Transport provides affordable, accessible transport for people living in rural areas across Northern Ireland.
Filmed for the segment is Roy Faulkner, driver with Lagan Valley Community Transport with members from The Disability Network, Lisburn area.
Roy said “The best way that people can learn more about community transport is by seeing what we do. I hope that everyone will enjoy this film as much as we have enjoyed making it.
I love my work. I know that I am doing something worthwhile for my community. As a driver I am able to transport lots of people who find getting out and about really difficult. All that and I’m on TV! Making this short film has been a great experience.”
Kellie Armstrong, Support and Development officer for Community Transport Association said “Everyone involved with Community Transport is delighted to have been given this opportunity through the BBC. The driver, passengers and I have learned quite a bit about camera angles and how films are made. We all hope that everyone out there will enjoy our film and find out about Community Transport across Northern Ireland.
Our film is based on the work of Lagan Valley Community Transport. If you feel that the work they do would be great in your area then you won’t be disappointed to learn that there is a community transport provider in all rural areas in Northern Ireland. From the Ards Peninsula to Belleek and from Ballycastle to Crossmaglen there is a local community transport provider just like Lagan Valley to provide transport for you.
