At the national Quality Assurance Panel held in London, Arthritis Care Northern Ireland, New Lodge Duncairn Community Health Partnership and Voluntary Service Bureau got through the last stage of a rigorous assessment process.

The Permanent Secretary for the Department for Social Development, Alan Shannon, presented the Investing in Volunteers Awards and paid tribute to the excellent work carried out by the three organisations at a celebration event hosted by the Voluntary Service Bureau.

Although unable to attend the event Minister for Social Development Margaret Ritchie recognised the importance of the Awards stating, "Organisations must aspire to excellence in volunteer management. Investing in Volunteers helps organisations improve their management skills and develop interpersonal skills and bonding between them and their volunteers. I am delighted these three organisations have been presented with awards as they have proven just how much they value their volunteers."

At the event the award winners spoke of the impact of volunteers’ contributions in their organisations, the importance of making sure that volunteers are managed well and the benefit and kudos of obtaining a national award which recognises that they manage their volunteers well. Many volunteers attended the event and shared in their organisation’s success.
