A special event was held on Friday night in Castlecoole to mark the Fermanagh Trust’s 10 years of work of supporting community and voluntary activity in County Fermanagh.
The celebrations included the launch of ‘Fermanagh – People, Places and Philanthropy’ a report marking the Trust’s work since 1995. Attending the launch included the Trust’s Patrons Fr Brian D’Arcy and The Duke of Abercorn, Trustees, staff and representatives from the Greg Turley Bursary Awards Panel, Fisher Foundation, Joan Trimble Awards Fund and the Killesher and Cleenish Community Care Fund. Many others including Fermanagh Trust mentors and representatives from local businesses, community and voluntary groups and funders attended.
‘‘It really was terrific to look back over 10 years and see what the Trust has achieved providing financial support to so many worthy initiatives as well as practical support and advice through our mentoring, networking, research initiatives. It is so important that we all take time to reflect on our achievements and celebrate our work’’. Outlined Lauri McCusker, Director of The Fermanagh Trust.

‘‘The Trust has come along way since it was established in 1995, we have had the great privilege of being in a position to work with so many good people and contribute to life in Fermanagh and beyond. We are delighted with the report which was commissioned with the support of the Barrow Cadbury Trust. We are particular thankful to everyone for their support and assistance to date and look forward to building on this work over the next decade’’ explained Lauri.

The guests were welcomed by 2 pipers from Killedeas Pipe Band and Cavanacaragh Pipe Band. Following a brief reception speakers including Joanna McVey and Vera Gibson outlined the background to the Trusts formation, and the nature and extent of the Trusts work over the last decade. A special tribute was paid to Jim Ledwith the founding trustee whose vision and perservance led to the establishment of The Fermanagh Trust. Thanks were also extended to Byrony Flanagan of Green Hat consultancy for writing the report ‘Fermanagh – People, Places and Philanthropy’ and Michael Brown from the Community Media Workshop for his photography and design work. |
The evening concluded with a buffet supper, provided by the Horseshoe and Saddlers Restaurant with entertainment from the Draiocht group.
