October 2, 2006; S.T.E.P. (South Tyrone Empowerment Programme) based in Dungannon took part in Tradelinks 2006 in the Slieve Russell Hotel, Co Cavan during last week. A community development and training organisation in operation in South Tyrone for almost ten years, S.T.E.P. has been delivering Interpreter and Translation Services for two years as part of its Migrant Worker Support Project. The Service has over 250 Interpreters and Translators covering over 30 languages and completing work across the region. The Tradelinks conference provided an opportunity to promote the Interpreter and Translation Service to a number of key buyers both domestic and international.
A “buyer” delegation from Poland allowed excellent networking opportunities and were very interested in the social economy aspect of the S.T.E.P. projects.Business Development Manager for S.T.E.P., Fintan McAliskey continues: “Tradelinks 2006 provided an excellent opportunity to showcase our Interpreting and Translation service. With a number of our Polish interpreters working at the event, “buyers” and “exhibitors” were able to bridge the language gap and conduct their meetings with ease. We wish all the local companies who participated in Tradelinks 2006 success on the International market and hope that they will need our services many times in the future.”
