Rural Youth Liaison Officer £13,250
for Antrim and Londonderry

Applications are welcome for this new post which has been created to engage young people in the rural community with the purpose of:

  • offering personal and skills development based upon the YFCU model of working with young people.
  • encouraging the use of these skills to contribute to other organisations in the wider rural community.

Officers will have responsibility for the following regional area Londonderry/Antrim. Whilst the post will be part of the YFCU Headquarters staff team, the post-holders will be required to work from home and should therefore be self-motivated and able to work on their initiative.

Applicants should

  1. Possess a degree/HNC/HND or equivalent.
  2. Be competent in the use of Microsoft Office, the Internet and email.
  3. Be able to demonstrate skills in working with young adults in a youth or community environment.
  4. Be able to demonstrate a suitable level of knowledge of rural community issues and demographic patterns in the geographical areas for which they would be responsible.
  5. Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  6. Have continuous access to a car and posses a clean driving licence.
  7. Have experience of working in the rural community

As there will be regular evening work and extensive travel within the geographical areas of responsibility a travel allowance will be paid. The post is subject to a fixed term contract, to end at 31 January 2007.
