North Belfast Advice Partnership now wish to provide an additional advice capability and to provide a specialist tribunal representation service.
The provision of a money and dept advice worker will not only assist those in dept, but will provide budgeting skills for clients and specialist back up to advice workers.
- To organise and provide a comprehensive service for clients. The work will include advice on social security issues, negotiation with creditors, dealing with correspondence, liaison with creditors, statutory and voluntary bodies and making representations on behalf of clients.
- To provide consultancy and support where necessary to partnership workers, paid and unpaid, who are advising clients with debt problems.
- To encourage and develop involvement of partnership unpaid workers in the provision of money advice.
- To provide support in conjunction with other workers and provide training and information to appropriate groups on aspects of the partnership's work.
- To participate in any debt related policy work that the partnership considers appropriate. This may include the identification and promotion of campaign issues including benefit take up work.
- To provide information on budgeting skills for clients and other groups.
- To use new technology following appropriate training and where technology is available.
- To publicise the money and debt advice service as part of the Advice Partnership service.
- To attend any training sessions, seminars, discussions considered necessary and identify any personal advice training needs.
- To attend staff and partnership meetings.
- To represent the partnership on appropriate outside bodies and cooperate with other relevant agencies in the promotion of advice work and money / debt advice within Northern Ireland.
- To undertake any other tasks as may be required by the advice service manager.
- General clerical duties such as typing, word processing, photocopying, filing and handling of post.
- Preparation of reports as directed by the advice service manager on the work undertaken for evaluation and funding purposes.
- Liaison with the advice service manager in connection with publicity and service development to the local community.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring Equal Opportunities and good practice generally in his/her work.
Participation in staff and other meeting as directed by the advice service manager. The post holder will also be expected to attend occasional evening meetings for which time off in lieu is available.
Any other duties as the advice service manager on behalf of the partnership may from time to time determine and such other duties pertaining to the level of the post.
