The post holder will contribute to the overall development of the counselling service within the charity and will participate as a member of the Action Cancer therapeutic team, comprising counsellors and complementary therapists. Professional supervision will be provided together with access to continuing professional development.

Counsellor - 2 posts in both Enniskillen and Cookstown
£13,242 - £14,964 for 20 hours per week

Essential Criteria

  1. Recognised Diploma in Counselling or equivalent.
  2. Should hold (or be currently working towards) professional accreditation as a counsellor (eg: BACP; IACP; UKCP etc).
  3. Minimum 2 years counselling experience, working under professional supervision.
  4. Must be able to demonstrate awareness of and adherence to a recognised professional code of ethics and standards (eg: BACP Ethical Framework).
  5. Access to a car or appropriate transport to allow jobholder to perform duties adequately.
  6. Flexibility to work some evening and/or weekend sessions.

Desirable Criteria

  1. Previous experience of counselling work in the cancer field.
  2. Previous experience of group work.
  3. Experience in the design and/or delivery of counselling training courses/sessions.
  4. 3 years or more counselling experience, working under professional supervision.
  5. Possession of a relevant degree (eg: psychology/social work) and/or post graduate qualification.
  6. Recognised qualification in couple counselling and/or psychosexual therapy.
  7. Experience of carrying out counselling research.
