It will be seeking to implement an integrated approach to improving health and social well being in Ligoniel, which will be additional and complementary to existing services while developing new initiatives in this field.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To explore the health & social service needs of young people in Ligoniel and to monitor and assess improvements
2. To develop strong links between the local community and health & social services providers, both statutory and voluntary.
3. To work with other agencies; i.e. BELB, local schools, Health Board, Probation Board to help create a better understanding of the needs of the youth in the area, and determine what they can offer to the youth in the area.
4. To develop a programme of community outreach work around health and social well being with the young people of Ligoniel.
5. To increase understanding among community groups and local youth organisations of the impact that policies of agencies may have on issues of health and well being for the youth in Ligoniel.
6. To link this work into the activities of the Ligoniel Village Regeneration Partnership its sub-committees and Ligoniel Improvement Association.
7. To provide a programme of community education on health related topics for young people in the area.
8. To develop a strategy, in relation to health issues, for working with young people.
9. To establish, implement and co-ordinate appropriate systems to monitor and evaluate the success of the project.
10. To develop and facilitate information group work sessions on issues such as drug awareness, sexual health, teenage pregnancy etc.
11. To increase the knowledge and understanding of local adults in regard to the youth health problems faced by young people in the area.
12. To work as part of a health team to address the needs of Ligoniel.
13. To enable young people to fully realise their role in society and the responsibility they have for creating initiatives to improve health and social well being in partnership with statutory and voluntary service providers.
14. To promote the project through all mediums i.e.: flyers, press releases, interviews etc.
15. To undertake job related training if required.
16. To participate in applying for funding as and when applicable.
17. To attend meetings and conferences etc as directed.
18. To undertake such other tasks as may be required by the director of the LIA.
19. To provide individual informal support to youth coping with stresses/difficulties in their lives.
20. Establish the educational and training needs of the youth in the area and develop appropriate accredited courses/training opportunities to meet those needs identified.
